Trail Use & Terrain
Trails range from gentle paths to more rugged forest walks.
Most trails have natural surfaces with roots, rocks, and uneven ground. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
Watch for downed trees, hanging branches, and storm damage, especially after heavy weather.
Seasonal Considerations
Spring & summer: mosquitoes, ticks, and insects are common—wear repellent and long sleeves/pants.
Winter: trails may be snowy or icy; check ice conditions before walking on the lake. Never assume ice is safe.
Wildlife Safety
The preserve is home to deer, foxes, and many bird species.
Keep a safe distance (50 feet or more) from all animals.
Do not feed wildlife and follow Leave No Trace principles.
Birdwatchers are encouraged to bring binoculars and enjoy seasonal migrations.

The Screened Porch is available for shelter, planning your visit, or resting along the trails.

Ample parking is available at the main lot.
Overflow parking is provided during special events.
